Bethany Sailer - Jewelry

My current body of work explores the history of pattern and textile through a variety of mediums. Many of the bright eccentric patterns I create, I envision being a couch, wallpaper, or maybe as a piece of clothing. I often research fashion, interior design, and lifestyle through the different eras of history. This research allows me to draw connections to repeating patterns and color schemes to then create my own using semblances of what was.

The process of creating allows me to feel connected to history through the nostalgic emotion my work often invokes. Although my work can be described as geometric abstraction, it calls to mind solid memories and visuals from positive moments of my past, and reflects a yearning to experience the history that others have lived.
